I just hosted a seminar alongside Poets and Plumbers. It was all about MySpace – where are they at right now, how do they view their position in the Danish market (dominated by Facebook) and finally – and most interestingly – what they future holds for one of the grand old players on the social networking scene.

I must say, I’m pretty impressed by the plans forming at MySpace, and by their aproach when it comes to localisation. As the image shows, MySpace are comitted to a local presence in a host of different markets (Denmark among others), and actually managed to become THE social network in Germany, probably because of a very early localised version.

Anyhoo – watch out for MySpace in 09. There are some very interesting things just around the corner. Especially if you’re into music. Actually, if you can get your hands on an American I.P. adress you can check out some of the new stuff already.

Ernst mentioned Posterous in a tweet recently, and I spent some time checking it out yesterday.

Basically, Posterous is a super simple blogging tool that never requires you to sign up or learn your way around a back end.

You activate your account and post your first post all at once, simply by sending an email to post@posterous.com.

The system creates an account for you, gives you a URL based on your name and makes your email subject field the title and the body text the post itself. It then sends you a confirmation link.

You can log in and edit your profile, posts and settings if you want to, but it is entirely up to you.

If you attach images to your email they are displayed in the post, and if there is more than one image Posterous places them in a neat little gallery. If you attach mp3s they are playable from the post in a nice looking player. Links to Youtube or Vimeo files in your email wil result in embedded videos and Posterous also collects your attachments in zip files for download. Quite simply genious, and very elegant.

On top of this one Posterous account can be set up to recognise different email adresses, fascilitating email based group blogging.

I’m super happy with WordPress, but I recommend Posterous to anyone looking for a simple, feature rich and easy-to-use blogging tool.

As far as I can tell Posterous is built using Ruby on Rails (a detail mostly meant for the guys at Re: who freakin LOVE RoR)

As I mentioned in my previous post I’m working on compiling a list of brilliant European (and primarily Danish) web 2.0 sites and services. Instead of writing the whole thing all at once, I’ve decided to get started, and then do updates as I think of new places. I’ll start off with Danish sites – there’s quite a few good ones (oh yeah, as you may have guessed – these sites are – for the most part – in Danish)!

First up – a couple of good photosharing sites that are serious competitors to Flickr. I’ve tried them both, and I think they’re great – however, I’ve been using Flickr since forever, so it’s not easy for me to switch (I guess you could call that ‘stickyness’, right):

albinogorilla
Great for moblogging. Fantastically easy upload via the mobile phone, and a nice flash-based look.

23
Very Flickr-like if you ask me. I’ve recommended it to several friends and family members. Particularly those who experience an unnecessary language-barrier when trying to settle in to Flickr.

Next, a couple of sites that, in each their own way, really mean bizz when it comes to user generated content

mitkbh
Copenhagen residents rate virtually everything in Copenhagen. From restaurants and bars to beautiful sites and the places to go for shopping. Navigation via tags, and real user generated content. I predict they’ll leave their competition in the dust once the general public get into mitkbh

avisen.dk
If you ask me, avisen.dk offers a sneak peak into the future of newspapers. They do a print version too, which, for obvious reasons, I find less interesting, but their online efforts are lightyears ahead of other Danish newspapers.

overskrift.dk
Denmark’s most comprehensive RSS feed and weblog portal – a great place for keeping track of the Danish blogosphere

These are just the tip of the iceberg – I’m sure I’ll think of loads more, and in the mean time – help me out, huh? what are your favorite 2.0 sites?

P.S. I can’t help but mention a site that would do itself a major favour if it went a bit more 2.0. 16-9 is my absolute favourite film site. It tends (willingly) towards the academic and offers a rarely seen analytical view of cinema. Comments and user generated contributions would SO suit this place…

UPDATE: Dion Hinchcliffe has compiled quite a list of the best web 2.0 software of 2006 (none of it Danish, though )
