The two ads are a couple of years apart, but aparently ’3′ have become such a force to be reckoned with that even their OLD concepts are worth knicking

The Flip & Flickr video

I ordered Pure Digital’s Flip Ultra camcorder yesterday. I can’t wait to see if it’s all it’s cracked up to be! I bought it as a supplement to my regular camcorder – the point and shoot version so to speak. I’ll write a proper review once it arrives and I’ve had time to test it out.

While on the subject of video. Flickr now supports video! I’ve been waiting for this day to arrive for ages, and it looks promising. I am, however, SERIOUSLY bummed to learn that videos are limited to 90 secs. To me this just means that I will probably stick to using Vimeo (love Vimeo) and using the nifty little ‘share’ option.

But hey – perhaps Flickr will be the place to post Flip vids while Vimeo holds the longer vids shot on the regular camcorder.

Giving it away

It’s important to remember – while bands like Radiohead and NIN are meaking international headlines by giving their music away – that bands have been doing this for quite a while, and continue to do so, obviously realizing that the business models for music distribution are rapidly changing.

One group of guys that deserve attention for both making beautiful music and for giving it away are Danish DJ collective Den Sorte Skole. They also deserve props for recognising the importance of online presence. Besides their official site, the share pictures, videos and music on the MySpace page (I’ve been writing off MySpace for a while now. I need to reconsider that. It is obviously very much alive and kicking when it comes to music), and on Facebook. Give them a look and a listen. They kick ass.
