This weekend I took a trip to the motherland – Jutland, that is – to visit my dad and my girlfriend’s parents. I had a great couple of days, and fortunately, I spent part of my sunday at ARoS (Aarhus art museum) looking at Mariko Mori’s exhibition ‘Oneness’.
Mariko Mori is a photographer, artist and former fashion model, and her work has a unique way of combining buddhisme, zen, fashion, technology and art. I was absolutely blown away by her work, and I urge you to pop by ARoS if you find yourself in Ã…rhus some time before late January. It is so worth a visit!
If I were to mention one piece in particular, it would be a sculpture made out of matted glass, with a light source inside. The Piece is connected to a supercomputer at an observatory in Tokyo, which registers stellar activity. When a star dies, the sculpture lights up, as to symbolise the cyclical nature of existence – birth – death – rebirth. Pretty amazing stuff.

This slideshow is from my visit to the museum, so the works in it may not all be Mori’s – but they’re all great!
