Walled Gardens – revisited…

I recently stumbled upon this drwaing from Gaping Void

It reminded me of one of my early blog-posts (from two and a half years ago) – which, in turn, made me regret not including my archive from way back in my blog when I re-opened it a month or so ago… An exerpt of the post (loosely translated from Danish – and memory):

‘No way! The idea of paying for a single news-article should’ve been buried long ago. The fact that the platform is new (mobile phones – ap.) doesn’t change a thing, and it is only a matter of time before the distributors realize, that a different screen does not make for a new source of income unless the advertisers are in on it. Thanks, but no thanks.’

I stick by most of this today – even though I first shouted it back in ’04. It does, however, seem like advertisers are waking up and realizing that there may be potential in the ol’ mobile phone, so maybe there’s money to be made after all.
