The Globe and Mail: Liverpool wins European championship in shootout
Wow! What a game – I’m not the world’s greatest Liverpool fan, nor do I have shares in AC Milan, but none of that mattered last night! For those who don’t get why football is fascinating: you should have seen it! 3 goals in each half – Good old Paolo Maldini kicked off the scoring bonanza not even a minute into the game, and it just took off from there. 3-3 after 90-some minutes of fabulous football and it all came down to the penalties. Liverpool’s Dudek managed to psyche out the opposition, and must be a hero in England today… anyway, you should have seen it… BBC sports online made a forum for fans to pay homage to their heroes – good idea, and the users seem to be loving it.
