The Ipod Mini proved a sucess beyond anyone’s wildest expectations – even Apple’s. It has strengthened the Apple brand, and become somewhat of a powerful brand itself.
2004 saw a vast number of self-proclaimed “Ipod-killers” hit the market – among these the Creative Zen Mini and others like it, sporting massive storage space, sleek designs and modern colour schemes – and little did it help. The people want their Ipods, and it remains on top of the game.
Choice beyond the colours
And as of now, there is a choice that goes beyond silver, pink, lime or blue. Ipod buyers will now be able to choose between reduced price or enhanced storage capacity when they pruchase the pod.
The “second generation” Ipods are out, and although changes are perhaps too modest to actually speak of a new generation, consumers can choose between the small Mini – sporting the same 4 gigs of storage as the old one did, but at a considerably lower price, or the big Mini, holding up to 6 gigs of tunes, at the price of the “old” Mini.
Me? I’m undecided – but one thing is certain – I’m buying it online, and I need to come up with a good 46 letters for the free laser engraving… Any suggestions?
